Every intelligent person will say, "There is always a good time to leave your bad habits". But does anybody say that you must leave your good habits?
Of course your answer would be no as most of the preachers, trainers and intellectuals always endorse the principle of good over bad. So why anyone suggests leaving good habits; at least not a reasonable person will advise this.
Whatever you think about it, might be right, but it is like the "Doosra" of Harbhajan Singh. Lets complete the sentence, as "Leave the good habits to adapt the better habits", then may be you agree with the saying. There is a sensible time in your career when you take decision to change your good corporate habits with the better corporate habits. Corporate habits are the behaviours, practices and lifestyle we adopt while delivering our services in accordance with the objectivity of the organisations. Good corporate habits must have given you the place; recognition and growth in improve your positions in the organisation as well as in the market your inclination would always be to adopt improvised corporate habits. Gone are the days, when organisations and their employee were working in isolation. Their individualistic approaches were successful at that time, but with the advent of innovative management styles and practices, workplaces have become more competitive. Not only the internal pressure for work has been increased, but also the external pressures have increased tremendously. There has been an intense competition within the industry as well as with other supplement industries too. For example,
Television manufacturer is facing intense competition within its own industry but at the same time there has been threat from the
information technology industry and from the mobile industry.
People have the option to watch TV on their big screen mobile phones and on their LCD monitors. The technology is really changing the way the organisations did business in the past. Keeping in view these developments, no one can deny the importance of readiness at all the times. As everything comes with its cost, so this competitiveness and expectation to out perform every other competitor has generated lot of stress and pressure in the workplaces. These days, pressure is too high on every individual to perform well. It will not be wrong to say that everyday it is like playing
T20 or
one-day cricket matches for the organisations and their employees.
Cricket World Cup final may come after every four years, but employees have to play their final match everyday. Interestingly, there is no time for the net practices even. In cricket you may know the number of teams you have to play with, but in the business and career, it is the other way round. Only small numbers are visible, as big chunk remains hidden until they turn out to be your evident competitor.
There are lots of official and social pressures on the employees and these pressures appear like a web to them. Many of the employees tangle themselves in the pressure web and hence lose the competitiveness and skills they posses. This is the time to show your maturity. Scenarios will always present you pressures, but the responsibility lies within to guard your identity by handling pressures with senses.
Remember one thing, do not let the pressures change yourself, rather improvise your behavior; become strong to face them. Opportunist people who seek their own benefit from your success will always try to attaché themselves with you. They are also responsible for building pressure on you, because if you will perform better, they will automatically be benefitted. To accomplish their own selfish objective they artificially create the hype of your activities so that whole focus turns towards you and you become more sensitive and pressurised. In this process there are chances that you misplace yourself and do something wrong that can lead to failure. It happens most of the time the performers could not perform well in pressures.
Don't forget, this is the testing time, which differentiates the ordinary and great performers. Great performers never bother about the situations and pressures; they are great because of their stability and sustainability. Like great master blaster
Sachin Tendulkar, keep walking with big strides, never allows pressure to spoil your performance, rather your opponents must feel threatened from you. Who may ever the team be, may be your oldest rivals and competitors, stand firm against them, do not give importance to hype or artificial promotion, keep your nerves in control and be natural. At the same time you must back pack your determination, courage, modesty and most important your skills. No doubt everyday there will be a match at workplace but every morning get ready by saying "Today is a big match and I have to win this."
